6th Grade
English:  Review direct objects, indirect objects
Writing:  Improve snowman story
                Type the whole story, and add pictures.;  you may turn it into a powerpoint presentation, story book, or just a typed story.  Be creative.  You may use different fonts or colors.
Literature:   Book club reading;  be sure to be up to your page by Friday.

7th Grade
Writing: Improve music reviews.  Print out on the Time magazine template.  Remember single-space, 2 cols.; two music reviews.

8th Grade
Project binder is due Thursday.  You will add your book report, and test on that day.  

 You've done a great job with this unit!  I'm looking forward to introducing you to another memorable novel, To Kill a Mockingbird.  Remember you should have your copy by Dec. 16th.

Again, enjoy your field trip!  The Christmas trees are beautiful!

Typed final draft of book report will be due Tuesday.  All paragraphs should be in one essay, not on separate pages.  
Bring in binder and plastic sheet covers on Monday.  Also bring in your ideas for your project cover.
Literature:
Test on Fahrenheit 451 will be Tuesday.  Use your  guide questions to study. 
Entire project will be due  Thursday.

               We're getting ready to write reviews for different musical selections.

8th Grade
Literature:  Finish study questions for the novel.   Begin to look for a 1/2 to 1 inch binder, and a     pack of clear acetate paper holders for the binder.   We will be putting together a project to end our study of Fahrenheit 451.  Test will not be until the binder is complete.  Binder  is due next Monday.  Please make sure all of your essays are up to date.  Check older posts to find out the topics.

Topic:  Write two pages on the character you believe to be the antagonist.  Why is this character opposed to Montag?  How does this character force him to reevaluate himself?  Use passages from the text to support your conclusions.

Write a letter to Captain Beatty responding to his ideas about education and his charge that  "a book is a loaded gun" (page 58).  Do you agree or disagree with his ideas?  In your letter, explain your own ideas about education and the value of books.    Due Monday.

Writing:  What a creative bunch of students you are!!  Your leaf stories were wonderful!  Thank you for reading them aloud in class.  I know that took a dose of courage.   We will rewrite them in class on Thursday.  See if you can find an interesting leaf to put on your story.

English:  Remember to study adjective phrases, and adverb phrases.  Review concept cards.

Literature:  AR reading   Only a few weeks left to reach your goal.  Be a team player,and help your class reach our 100 percent goal.  

Religion:  School Mass on Friday/ 9:30

7th Grade
Literature:  AR reading;  Keep up the good work.  Your class is almost to the 100% mark!
Latin Roots:  folio/  finish the illustrations of 4 words; plus the other work from yesterday.
English:    Retest will be Friday.

8th Grade
Literature:   Good discussion today on the symbolism and character development in the novel, Fahrenheit 451.  Remember to continue reading to page 68, and to answer the second page of study questions by this Friday.  Be ready for a quiz about this section on Friday.

Writing:  Take the opportunity to improve your grade on your writing assignment.  Rewrite your story, "Back in a Minute", if your score was too low.  Now you know how Ray Bradbury felt when the publishers rejected his story.  Don't be discouraged!  Keep trying.  Writing is a process.  
Due Thursday morning:  "Walls", a hand-written personal essay. I'm looking forward to reading these thoughtful observations.  

Field trip this Thursday.

WRITING:  "Last Leaf on the Tree"  Using the worksheet and your notes as a guide, write a one page story.  Please handwrite your rough draft.

7th Grade

Latin Root:  folio      Complete two worksheets.  Remember to color them also.

Time magazine essays will be returned this week.  They should be turned into 2 columns, and printed on the template.



8th Grade

WRITING:  
 "Walls"   Can you identify a wall in your own family, community or society?  It could be a physical wall, like the Berlin Wall, made of concrete or metal, stones  or bricks.  Or it might be a "wall" in a figurative sense, such as a breakdown in communication between two groups of people.  What are some of the effects that the wall has had on your family, community or society?  What do you think might happen if the wall were to come down?  Handwrite a one page essay answering these questions.  Due Thursday morning.

LITERATURE:    
Read up to page 31 in Fahrenheit 451.  Answer study questions on the front side of the study sheet.
